Followers of the Way

The Followers of the Way is a lay holy order made up of dedicated Christian men and women, united by a passion to grow ever closer to God the Father in Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. We are brought together by a conscious and burning desire to live more deeply daily lives of consecrated devotion and service, to the glory of God and the furtherance of His Kingdom.

In our life together, we focus on three elements that have sustained Jesus’ disciples and spurred revival. We are drawn to the Vision of God The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, seeking to see, hear, and know Him in all things. As we behold Him in life, we invite Him to make us more like Jesus, particularly in His Virtues of Faith, Hope, and Love. Then, sustained in and guided by a spirit of humility, we adopt a Via or a Way of Life in disciplines that stabilize us in faith, convert us in hope, and call us to obedience in Love to one another and to the worlds in which we live. To this end we each make a commitment to be members together, following a personal form of our Rule or Way of Life, and serving as active participants in the life of the community.

We meet together on a Saturday morning once a month, online or onsite at The Abbey, to grow in our Way of Life and to support one another in prayer. Three of these meetings each year are extended into a Day Retreat at The Abbey, also broadcast online. We welcome others to join us for the public portions of these gatherings. A second meeting in sub-groups, either online and/or at a member’s home, is recommended for further prayer and fellowship

Although we do not live in physical community, we are in affiliation with our mother-house, The Abbey of The Way in Worcester, MA. We come from various church traditions, but are in agreement with the doctrine and discipline of the faithful church as described in The Holy Scriptures and interpreted in the historic ecumenical Creeds.
