grace descending

With the rise of political violence on the left and on the right, including the most recent assassination of Charlie Kirk, you can feel it on all sides.  There is an uprising underway, a frustration that is boiling over, causing people to say that they've had enough and want to take matters into their own hands.  Though we may be tempted to rise up along with others, we need to resist this mass movement.

If you look through Scripture, any spirit that "rises up" is suspect, more than likely a spirit that comes from and of this world or, perhaps, the netherworld.  We see it in people rising up against Moses in the wilderness, against Jesus in Jerusalem, and against the followers of Jesus ever since.  Though this uprising may indeed be coming after us, we are not to adopt its tactics.

We are to be those who welcome The Holy Spirit Who always comes down upon us, bringing His Grace, not only for us, but for all.  He sends His rain on the just and the unjust, and sends Himself to those who will receive and believe in His Son.  This is The Spirit Who brings us Peace in the midst of this cultural storm, and Light and Life to receive and share with those around us who are blind and dead in their sin.  

So dear friends, pray for revival in this land, not for any uprising.  Resist the lure of media, even well-meaning believers, who are "riled up" about what's happening.  Instead, ask The Holy Spirit to descend upon us, them, and upon all, that, together, we may usher in an advance of The Kingdom of God of unprecedented proportions.
